Lakeside Cottage
Tucked along the edge of Steel Lake, outside Seattle, the 1936 cottage sat nearly untouched since the homeowner lived there as a child. When he inherited the home, the homeowner and his wife began to imagine a kitchen to support their modern family while honoring the spirit of the house. Their vision was simple: openness and connection. Notherworld took a modern approach to color, materials, and design—dark monochromatic green across the walls and custom cabinetry paired with clean lines and monolithic forms. We also expanded the kitchen into the breakfast nook, and layered in details inspired by older world designs, such as the tile border trim, traditional cabinet door profiles, unlacquered-brass faucet and finishes, and antique-inspired light fixtures.
