welcome to a notherworld

.

Notherworld Projects is a Seattle based Architecture and Interior Design studio, founded by Michael David Lee. We are recognized as one of the Pacific Northwest’s leading design studios, known for creating distinctive work across projects of all scales.

Michael, a Seattle native, has a long-standing background in design, beginning in the world of architecture and gradually shifting toward more intimate scales - including interior design, garden design, and styling.

He holds a BFA in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati and an MFA in Interior Design from Parsons at The New School. With nearly 20 years of experience - including almost a decade in New York City - Michael has collaborated with AD100 designers, influential artists, and world-class fabricators.

His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Wallpaper, Surface, and Sight Unseen. While now based in Seattle, his projects span coast to coast, with locations including New York City, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, San Diego, and more.

Architecture & Interior Design

Notherworld Projects offers full Architecture and Interior Design services for residential, hospitality, and retail environments. Our approach is rooted in a deep respect for the artisans, fabricators, builders, and fellow designers we collaborate with every day.

Our full-service team brings expertise across disciplines - including architecture, art history, interior design, project management, and custom fabrication.

Guided by a clear ethos rather than a singular style, our process allows us to design freely and responsively. We embrace the future while honoring the past, creating spaces that feel both unexpected and deeply familiar.

Garden Design

Notherworld Projects offers garden design services at both small and large scales. Our approach centers on naturalistic planting, with a focus on ecological function, seasonal beauty, and the emotional experience of engaging with plants through their full life cycle.

We strive for a thoughtful balance of structure, texture, color, and form - creating gardens that evolve gracefully across all four seasons. Our work highlights the ever-changing nature of landscapes as a vibrant counterpoint to the stillness of surrounding architecture.
