Mercer Island Residence
For a residence on Mercer Island, Washington, Notherworld brought cohesion and warmth to a family home through a series of carefully considered custom designs and curated interventions. A custom daybed, upholstered in bright red velvet with a reclaimed Breccia Capraia marble base, is designed for lounging and napping, while custom walnut nesting coffee tables offer flexible functionality. Douglas fir built-ins with slatted doors discreetly house AV components alongside generous storage for books, artwork, and ceramics, and a custom checker-pattern rug adds a subtle graphic layer. Furniture selections were developed in direct dialogue with the home's existing pieces, materials, and color palette, and a curated artwork arrangement brings life to the entry. Throughout, the design balances the home's modern architecture with an emphasis on natural daylight.
